The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Raiders reached some 37 spots for Zion Logue, and value like that does not grow back. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 13 they get a press-man option on the boundary. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Good price on Xavier Worthy in the Round 2 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
By-the-book stuff, Cooper Beebe at No. 77 squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Matt Goncalves in the 113th overall pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Javion Cohen. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A real head-scratcher, Tanor Bortolini in slot 190 is miles ahead of his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They reached a country mile for Zakhari Franklin at Round 7, Pick 1, and the board is aghast. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Zion Logue at the 231st overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
