The Raiders looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Cade Stover at pick 76 regardless, 60 picks early.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. So much rides on Jayden Daniels that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him.
Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.
In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.
Pick-by-Pick
No edge and no loss on Jayden Daniels in slot 4; it is a wash and a sensible one. The roster fit checks out.
Brian Thomas Jr. at the 44th overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A big swing on Cade Stover at Round 3, Pick 12, well ahead of any board in the building. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A real head-scratcher, Mohamed Kamara in the 112th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Billy Bowman Jr. at No. 149 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Miles Frazier at the Round 6 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Frank Gore Jr. in the Round 7 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
