After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Raiders committed. Cam Ward is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.
Rourke falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Job largely done: cornerback settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 6 they get the arm they will build around at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Nick Emmanwori at pick No. 37. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Good price on Azareye'h Thomas in the Round 3 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Somehow TreVeyon Henderson was still sitting there in the 73rd overall pick, and they pounced on premier running back value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Savion Williams at pick 107 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Tory Horton at Round 5, Pick 5 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
You do not let a quarterback like Kurtis Rourke reach the 182nd pick and blink. They did not. The roster fit checks out.
Steal is underselling it; Luke Lachey at No. 214 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It fills a real need, too.
Jason Marshall Jr. at Round 6, Pick 40 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A wide receiver of that caliber at the 224th pick is the definition of value, full stop. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
