The Raiders did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Devin Neal fell into pick 212. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.
Everything downstream of Shedeur Sanders depends on Shedeur Sanders, and the building knows it. Every board in the league had McCord lower, and that gap is the story. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 2 they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. A real need, handled.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Tyler Booker reach Round 3, Pick 7 and blink. They did not. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They took Azareye'h Thomas at par in the 103rd pick, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They barely believed it either: TreVeyon Henderson still on the board at Round 5, Pick 1. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Kyle McCord at the 179th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It fills a real need, too.
Devin Neal in the Round 6 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Taking Nicholas Singleton in slot 216 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Tahj Brooks at pick No. 218 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
