Call it larceny. Xavier Legette sat on the board until the 46th pick, and the Raiders did not need to be asked twice. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Rattler has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
Taking Xavier Legette in pick No. 46 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Fair-plus on Quinyon Mitchell, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A premium they did not need to pay, Spencer Rattler a notch or two before his time. The roster fit checks out.
Tyler Guyton at Round 5, Pick 15 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Steve Linton slid further than he should have, and the 192nd overall pick is lovely value for the edge rusher. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Circle this one: Dorian Singer at the 235th pick is a fall that decides a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
