When a board-topper like Cam Skattebo slides to the 212th overall pick, you do not overthink it, and the Raiders did not. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
Reaching for Badger left real value on the table behind him. The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. Spending an early pick on linebacker with edge rusher, quarterback and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
A quiet steal in pick 34: Jalon Walker for less than the market said. A minor itch, scratched.
Good price on Isaiah Bond in the 37th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
The board fumbled Tyler Booker all the way to No. 65, and they scooped it up. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Tyleik Williams at the 68th overall pick is the proof. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
The board had Denzel Burke higher than Round 3, Pick 9, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending the Round 4 slot on Deontae Lawson with edge rusher, quarterback and other spots unsolved.
TreVeyon Henderson at slot 142 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Circle this one: Jake Majors at pick No. 179 is a fall that decides a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They barely believed it either: Cam Skattebo still on the board at pick No. 212. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Somehow Jordan Hancock was still sitting there in the Round 6 slot, and they pounced on premier safety value. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They reached into another round for Elijhah Badger, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
