The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Raiders spent their marquee pick on Cam Ward, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
On value alone, Thornton Jr. makes the weekend a net positive. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 6 they get their quarterback of the future. A real need, handled.
Wyatt Milum in the 37th pick is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They read the board right and TreVeyon Henderson was the payoff at Round 3, Pick 4. It fills a real need, too.
Xavier Watts in the Round 3 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Donovan Jackson in pick 100. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Cobee Bryant at No. 192 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They will replay Dont'e Thornton Jr. at the 218th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Karene Reid at pick No. 224 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
