The Raiders put a flag in the ground for Max Brosmer, 65 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
Whatever Cam Ward becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took King.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 6 they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. A real need, handled.
A conviction pick on Aireontae Ersery at the 37th pick that the board grades a round light. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
The board fumbled Kaleb Johnson all the way to No. 68, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Malachi Moore at the 73rd overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A minor itch, scratched.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and O'Donnell Fortune at pick 106 is the proof. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Kyren Lacy at pick No. 142 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They robbed the room for Kobe King here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They barely believed it either: Joshua Gray still on the board at No. 212. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Willie Lampkin in pick 216 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Max Brosmer this early at slot 222. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
