The Raiders spent the pick that matters most on Carson Beck, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape.
Mertz falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want.
Webb has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Carson Beck at pick 7 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Jack Sawyer at the Round 2 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Clay Webb in No. 71 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A wide receiver of that caliber at Round 4, Pick 7 is the definition of value, full stop. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They will replay Graham Mertz at the 135th pick for years; that is how good the value is. A need, and now a little less of one.
Dorian Strong at slot 167 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Tristan Leigh in the 199th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
