The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Raiders spent their marquee pick on Michael Penix Jr., and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Tampa. Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 11th overall pick they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
They took Cooper Beebe at par in slot 50, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
The board fumbled T.J. Tampa all the way to the 78th pick, and they scooped it up. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No edge and no loss on Cedric Gray in Round 4, Pick 21; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
No drama and no debate, Jaden Hicks went about where he belonged in No. 123. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Mohamed Kamara in pick No. 129 is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Mike Sainristil in pick 148 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Isaiah Adams at the Round 5 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Cody Schrader is a better player than No. 189 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
By-the-book stuff, Reuben Fatheree II at the Round 7 slot squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
