Thirty-one other rooms let Dylan Sampson slide, and the Raiders were the ones holding the card at pick 85. Highway robbery. A near-flawless weekend of work, and a A to cap it.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. Adding Maliek Collins by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
In short, they turned a good board into a better roster, and it shows.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 23 they get a press-man option on the boundary, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
Malaki Starks in the 41st overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Cameron Williams is a better player than pick No. 46 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Tyler Warren at slot 67 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Donovan Jackson in No. 81 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A running back of that caliber at the 85th pick is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They let Omarr Norman-Lott come to them and pounced at Round 3, Pick 29. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
