The Trajan Jeffcoat pick is the one that will follow the Raiders into the fall. They took him 82 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so.
The Laumea steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 13 they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They will replay Kool-Aid McKinstry at pick 44 for years; that is how good the value is. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Xavier Worthy in the 77th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They let MarShawn Lloyd come to them and pounced at the Round 4 slot. It fills a real need, too.
Sataoa Laumea in No. 147 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A tidy bit of business in the 210th overall pick, where Joe Milton III graded well above the range. The roster fit checks out.
A real head-scratcher, Trajan Jeffcoat in the Round 7 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A slide stopped in No. 225, with Nathan Thomas worth more than the price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They read the board right and JD Bertrand was the payoff at pick No. 227. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
