The Samuel Brown selection is the head-turner. The Raiders reached 44 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. A weekend to file away and forget, and an F to match.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. Conner Weigman gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits.
The Sanders pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it.
Bottom line, it will take a lot of luck to make this look better later.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 7th overall pick they get a passer to set the clock by, though the board says they badly overpaid.
Tacario Davis at the Round 1 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They talked themselves into Samuel Brown at slot 39, and the board did not agree. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Clay Webb in the 71st pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Nick Emmanwori well ahead of where he belonged. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They will replay T.J. Sanders at Round 5, Pick 7 for years; that is how good the value is. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
No drama and no debate, Jonah Coleman went about where he belonged in Round 6, Pick 7. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Value said wait; Steve Linton in pick 199 says they were not listening. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
