The Raiders lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. Too much went sideways, and the D- is the honest tally.
The Jackson pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end. That Emmanwori pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and tight end is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 7 they get a sticky cover corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
No edge and no loss on Omarion Hampton in the 33rd pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They went early on Conner Weigman in pick 39, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Donovan Jackson at the 52nd overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They jumped the gun on Samuel Brown, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They paid sticker price for Jalon Walker in pick No. 103, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
DeMonte Capehart at No. 135 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They will replay Nick Emmanwori at the 167th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They liked Armand Membou enough to skip the value, taking him in the 199th pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
