The rest of the league will want that one back. Jonas Sanker tumbling to the Raiders in the 213th pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The skill positions did well by the weekend.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 6 they get a lead back with juice at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Steal is underselling it; Luther Burden III at the 37th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Darien Porter at pick No. 68 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
You do not let a safety like Andrew Mukuba reach the Round 4 slot and blink. They did not. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Will Howard in No. 143 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
CJ West in Round 6, Pick 4 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Jonas Sanker at slot 213 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Taking Jack Nelson in the 215th overall pick is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A running back of that caliber at the 222nd overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
