Somebody in the Round 7 slot was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Raiders sat still while Ollie Gordon II, the No. 175 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. The Raiders clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Few war rooms will sleep better than this one tonight.
Pick-by-Pick
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jaxson Dart at pick 68. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Isaiah Bond at No. 73 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Barrett Carter in the 97th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
The board fumbled Devin Neal all the way to pick No. 107, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Somehow Jalen Milroe was still sitting there in slot 144, and they pounced on premier quarterback value. The roster fit checks out.
Lathan Ransom at Round 5, Pick 31 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They robbed the room for Jabbar Muhammad here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Chase Lundt in the Round 6 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Ricky White III at pick 214 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
CJ West in the Round 7 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Circle this one: Ollie Gordon II at No. 238 is a fall that decides a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, R.J. Mickens in the 250th overall pick, plain and simple. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
