The Raiders spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Johnny Dixon, the No. 181 name on the board, in the 221st pick. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 20 they get a load in the middle at fair value.
Nice patience on Ja'Lynn Polk, who had no business lasting to the Round 3 slot. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Kris Abrams-Draine at the 89th overall pick is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Value with a capital V on Marshawn Kneeland in pick 97, a genuine coup. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Matt Goncalves at Round 4, Pick 13 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Mohamed Kamara in slot 126 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Christian Jones is a better player than pick No. 147 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The board had Tommy Eichenberg higher than the 153rd pick, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jarrian Jones at No. 160 is the proof. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Dallin Holker in the 170th pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
No drama and no debate, Jalyx Hunt went about where he belonged in the Round 5 slot. It does not line up with the team's obvious holes.
Cornelius Johnson in pick No. 210 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Johnny Dixon at slot 221 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Tyrice Knight at the 225th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Josh Proctor in pick 227 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
