The search is over. The Raiders handed the keys to Cam Ward, and the whole operation now runs on his development. The bottom line is a respectable B.
That is an offensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 11 they get their guy under center for the next decade at fair value.
A slide stopped in the Round 2 slot, with James Pearce Jr. worth more than the price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Dylan Fairchild at pick 84 is the proof. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Maxwell Hairston in slot 101. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Fernando Carmona in the 109th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Nothing to complain about; J.Michael Sturdivant went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jaydn Ott in the 187th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Nazir Stackhouse at pick No. 212 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
Dane Key in the Round 6 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Kamari Wilson in pick No. 225 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They paid sticker price for Power Echols in Round 7, Pick 40, and that is fine. It adds depth where they could use a little.
