Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Raiders were there to profit. Nick Emmanwori, the No. 16 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick No. 126.
Whatever Cam Ward becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 22 they get their guy under center for the next decade, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Ashton Jeanty in the Round 2 slot, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Taking Wyatt Milum in pick 55 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Steal is underselling it; Walter Nolen at the 68th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Somehow Jahdae Barron was still sitting there in the 73rd overall pick, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They robbed the room for Tate Ratledge here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Nick Emmanwori in the Round 4 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A minor need, but a need all the same.
