Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Jacob Parrish got past him. The Raiders do not have to explain a thing at the 180th pick. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. They will need Buchanan to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 6 they get a bell-cow for the offense. A real need, handled.
They took Jihaad Campbell at par in the Round 2 slot, which is nothing to complain about. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Elic Ayomanor in Round 3, Pick 4. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Steal is underselling it; Andrew Mukuba at pick No. 108 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Emery Jones Jr. at No. 143 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Jacob Parrish in the 180th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Somehow Dont'e Thornton Jr. was still sitting there in the 213th pick, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They let Caleb Ransaw come to them and pounced at slot 215. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Value said wait; Teddye Buchanan in slot 222 says they were not listening. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
