Call it larceny. Dylan Fairchild sat on the board until the 205th overall pick, and the Raiders did not need to be asked twice. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
The whole projection now runs through Drew Allar; hit there and everything else looks smarter. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up. The Allar reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 13th pick they get the arm they will build around, though the board says they badly overpaid.
Quinshon Judkins at slot 45 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Value with a capital V on Ashton Gillotte in pick No. 77, a genuine coup. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They barely believed it either: Jonah Monheim still on the board at pick 109. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Chris Tyree slid further than he should have, and the 141st overall pick is lovely value for the wide receiver. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
No edge and no loss on Steve Linton in Round 6, Pick 13; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Dylan Fairchild at the Round 7 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
