The rest of the league will want that one back. Myles Jones tumbling to the Raiders in the 234th pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Jackson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 13 they get a bendy edge with upside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They paid sticker price for J.J. McCarthy in Round 2, Pick 12, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They went early on Khyree Jackson in the Round 3 slot, and the value did not follow. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Value with a capital V on Roman Wilson in the 98th pick, a genuine coup. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They took Dillon Johnson at par in the 112th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Nothing to complain about; Javion Cohen went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A straight-up fair deal on Christian Jones at No. 190, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Myles Jones in pick No. 234 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
