You can usually follow a front office's logic. This one is harder. The Vikings spent the 120th overall pick on Khyree Jackson while safety and tight end sat unaddressed. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
That safety hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. That is a linebacker worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the safety spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Dallas Turner slid further than he should have, and the 34th pick is lovely value for the edge rusher. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Kalen King at the 52nd overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They went early on Blake Corum in the Round 2 slot, and the value did not follow. A need, and now a little less of one.
No edge and no loss on Tyler Davis in pick No. 94; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went cornerback with Khyree Jackson while clear needs at safety and tight end sat open.
A slide stopped in Round 5, Pick 21, with Cameron Ward worth more than the price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Antwaun Powell-Ryland in pick 161 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They let Devontez Walker come to them and pounced at the 168th pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Ty'Ron Hopper in pick No. 169 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
No drama and no debate, Ajani Cornelius went about where he belonged in Round 6, Pick 4. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Joshua Gray in No. 241. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
