Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Vikings, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. Too much went sideways, and the D is the honest tally.
So much rides on Drake Maye that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. The offensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Oladapo at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
The Vikings clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, offensive lineman very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
By-the-book stuff, Drake Maye at pick 6 squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Nate Wiggins in slot 19. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
In the 31st pick they get a weapon on the perimeter, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
Byron Murphy II at No. 52 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
No edge and no loss on Cedric Johnson in pick No. 148; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They will replay Kitan Oladapo at the 179th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A quiet steal in Round 7, Pick 10: Steele Chambers for less than the market said. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
