Whoever sat across the table from the Vikings should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend.
If Hall pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
The Justin Fields pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 27 they get a lockdown presence outside. More want than need.
A tidy little value on Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in No. 66, a step better than break-even. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Leonard Taylor III in pick 108 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint in the 130th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Ben Sinnott at the 148th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It fills a real need, too.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jaylen Wright. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Austin Booker at Round 5, Pick 30 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Gabe Hall at the Round 6 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Maurice Smith at the 230th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
