After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Raiders committed. Jaxson Dart is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.
On value alone, Reed makes the weekend a net positive. If Dart pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 14th pick they get an island corner at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In pick 29 they get the arm they will build around, though the board says they badly overpaid. A clean fit for the roster.
Aireontae Ersery slipping to the Round 2 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
TreVeyon Henderson in No. 68 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A linebacker of that caliber at pick No. 107 is the definition of value, full stop. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
No edge and no loss on Pat Bryant in the 144th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Nazir Stackhouse at Round 6, Pick 4 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Jaylen Reed in slot 218 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Ricky White III at No. 224 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
