The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Raiders spent their marquee pick on Shedeur Sanders, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
However the rest shakes out, Nelson at that price is a win they earned. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
By-the-book stuff, Shedeur Sanders at pick No. 6 squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
No drama and no debate, Tyler Booker went about where he belonged in the Round 2 slot. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
You do not let a cornerback like Trey Amos reach pick 68 and blink. They did not. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Cam Skattebo slid further than he should have, and the 108th pick is lovely value for the running back. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Pat Bryant. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
The board had Jonah Monheim higher than the 180th overall pick, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They barely believed it either: Jack Nelson still on the board at No. 213. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Upton Stout at Round 6, Pick 39 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They will replay Jay Higgins at pick 222 for years; that is how good the value is. A minor need, but a need all the same.
