The Raiders spent real capital to be 61 picks early on Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson, and the board is going to hold them to it. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Thornton Jr. steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
The DK Metcalf deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 18 they get a lead back with juice, reach and all. A clean fit for the roster.
Jihaad Campbell in No. 37 is fair value, right on his grade. A minor itch, scratched.
They took Maxwell Hairston at par in pick 68, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Hollin Pierce at pick No. 107 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Tyler Shough at the Round 5 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. slid further than he should have, and Round 6, Pick 4 is lovely value for the wide receiver. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
By-the-book stuff, Jermari Harris at pick 214 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson this early at the 218th overall pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Garrett Dellinger well ahead of where he belonged. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
