Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Eagles spent pick 178 on Jordan Whittington, a name the board had a full 93 spots lower.
The Sainristil pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
They went 5 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
If Jordan Morgan and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 22 they get a long-term starter on the line. A real need, handled.
Value said wait; Cooper Beebe in No. 50 says they were not listening. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Javon Bullard in pick 54 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Mike Sainristil in the 97th overall pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They talked themselves into Edefuan Ulofoshio at the 137th pick, and the board did not agree. A minor itch, scratched.
Christian Jones at slot 163 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It fills a real need, too.
Jaylan Ford in pick 172 is fair value, right on his grade. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
A wild overpay on Jordan Whittington in slot 178, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Elijah Simmons at the Round 7 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
