The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Eagles watched Anthony Belton slide 49 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through cornerback. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece, outstanding value to boot.
Ashton Gillotte at Round 2, Pick 32 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
No drama and no debate, Malachi Moore went about where he belonged in the 96th overall pick. It fills a real need, too.
Somehow Tai Felton was still sitting there in slot 129, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Oronde Gadsden II at pick No. 166 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They robbed the room for Anthony Belton here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Andres Borregales in pick 173 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Ja'Quinden Jackson in No. 212 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
