Somebody took the Eagles to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D- is the result.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Eagles indulged a want in Solomon while a need in edge rusher and quarterback stayed open. The Bortolini reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
That Jacobs pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 22 they get a lockdown presence outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
No drama and no debate, Xavier Worthy went about where he belonged in the 50th overall pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 2 slot, where Javon Bullard graded well above the range. It fills a real need, too.
They did well to land Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in pick 72, just ahead of his grade. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Blake Corum in the 93rd pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The roster fit checks out.
A curious use of slot 124. Edge rusher and quarterback needed the pick; an OLB-EDGE in Javon Solomon did not.
No edge and no loss on Christian Jones in slot 130; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Tommy Eichenberg at the 140th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Jacob Cowing slid further than he should have, and the 161st pick is lovely value for the wide receiver. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
The board had cheaper options than Tip Reiman at pick 171, and it noticed. A need, and now a little less of one.
Tanor Bortolini in Round 5, Pick 36 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A cornerback of that caliber at pick No. 210 is the definition of value, full stop. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They robbed the room for Curtis Jacobs here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Myles Murphy at the Round 6 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Value with a capital V on Caedan Wallace in the 225th pick, a genuine coup. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
By-the-book stuff, Brevyn Spann-Ford at slot 246 squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Josh Proctor at Round 7, Pick 31 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Good price on Kimani Vidal in No. 256, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
