Somebody in the Round 5 slot was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Eagles sat still while Tyrone Tracy Jr., the No. 151 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They are betting Raym proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 22 they get a ballhawk on the outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
A clean, defensible pick in slot 50 with a little surplus value in Keon Coleman. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Payton Wilson in the 53rd overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
By-the-book stuff, Javon Foster at the Round 4 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Tykee Smith at pick No. 162 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
Taking Marcus Harris in pick 171 is close to grand larceny; an edge rusher that good had no business lasting this long. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Tyrone Tracy Jr. in the 172nd pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Jared Wiley at Round 6, Pick 35 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It fills a real need, too.
They paid up for Andrew Raym at No. 226 when waiting would have done the job. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
