Somebody took the Eagles to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D- is the result.
Every board in the league had Wiley lower, and that gap is the story. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Getting Paul where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 22nd pick they get a premier pass rusher at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In pick 29 they get a home-run threat at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
The board had cheaper options than Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at No. 50, and it noticed. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Fair-plus on Jonah Elliss, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Patrick Paul slipping to the Round 2 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Bucky Irving in pick No. 97. The roster fit checks out.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, DJ James at Round 4, Pick 26. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A tidy little value on James Williams in the 137th overall pick, a step better than break-even. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 5 slot with a little surplus value in Jordan Travis. A need, and now a little less of one.
No edge and no loss on Chau Smith-Wade in the 163rd pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Delmar Glaze at the 169th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They took Roger Rosengarten at par in No. 172, which is nothing to complain about. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Nothing to complain about; Frank Gore Jr. went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They reached into another round for Jared Wiley, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
