The rest of the league will want that one back. Mike Sainristil tumbling to the Vikings in the 108th pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
With wide receiver, tight end and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on cornerback is the choice that costs them. They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 11 they get a potential shutdown corner. More want than need.
A top-tier quarterback at a bargain, Bo Nix in Round 2, Pick 10, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Mike Sainristil adds a cornerback and leaves wide receiver, tight end and other spots untouched.
By-the-book stuff, James Williams at the Round 4 slot squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
No edge and no loss on Braelon Allen in slot 148; it is a wash and a sensible one. The roster fit checks out.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Grayson Murphy. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Zion Tupuola-Fetui in No. 165 is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Jaylan Ford at the 179th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Dylan McMahon at slot 230 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
