The Eagles clearly saw something nobody else did in Mycah Pittman, taking him 100 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Gore Jr.. On the needs board they went 6 of 9, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 22nd overall pick they get a sticky cover corner, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They did well to land Kris Jenkins in the Round 2 slot, just ahead of his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No drama and no debate, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. went about where he belonged in the 54th pick. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Blake Fisher in Round 3, Pick 34 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A tidy little value on James Williams in No. 137, a step better than break-even. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Jase McClellan at slot 163 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
By-the-book stuff, Curtis Jacobs at Round 5, Pick 36 squarely in line with his ranking. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Frank Gore Jr. at No. 178 is the proof. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
