The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Vikings spent their marquee pick on Michael Penix Jr., and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
Barrett has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. A whole weekend of picks and safety is somehow still a want.
Getting Abrams-Draine where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
Good work on the whole, with safety the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 11 they get a franchise quarterback. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Fair-plus on Chop Robinson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
No drama and no debate, Junior Colson went about where he belonged in the 108th pick. A minor need, but a need all the same.
The board had Kris Abrams-Draine higher than the Round 4 slot, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Good price on Jaylin Simpson in slot 148, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Christian Jones at pick No. 163 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Michael Barrett in No. 164 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
No edge and no loss on Justin Eboigbe in the 179th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Edefuan Ulofoshio well ahead of where he belonged. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
