Somebody took the Raiders to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it.
Michael Penix Jr. is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.
About as rough as a weekend gets on paper, with edge rusher still staring back at them.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get the arm they will build around. A clean fit for the roster.
No edge and no loss on Troy Fautanu in Round 2, Pick 11; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Byron Murphy II slid further than he should have, and pick 75 is lovely value for the interior defensive lineman. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Nothing to complain about; Devontez Walker went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Fair-plus on Cam Hart, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A straight-up fair deal on Payton Wilson at the 144th pick, value and slot in agreement. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Devin Neal in slot 148 is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
