The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Raiders spent their marquee pick on Michael Penix Jr., and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
They are betting Davis proves the room right and everyone else wrong. On value alone, Rosemy-Jacksaint makes the weekend a net positive. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
A straight-up fair deal on Michael Penix Jr. at slot 13, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kingsley Suamataia. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Mike Sainristil at No. 77 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They paid sticker price for Javon Baker in Round 3, Pick 23, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
No edge and no loss on Maason Smith in the 112th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They reached a country mile for Isaiah Davis at pick No. 127, and the board is aghast. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Braiden McGregor. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Johnny Dixon in pick 208 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They robbed the room for Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Julian Pearl in Round 7, Pick 9, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
