The rest of the league had time to spare on Donell Harris Jr.; the Raiders did not wait, grabbing him 61 spots ahead at the Round 7 slot. The board rewarded a patient, disciplined weekend with a A-.
The whole projection now runs through J.J. McCarthy; hit there and everything else looks smarter. On value alone, Clark makes the weekend a net positive. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast.
A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.
Bottom line, with J.J. McCarthy leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 27th pick they get the face of the franchise, reach and all. A real need, handled.
Nate Wiggins in pick 35 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They reached a country mile for Gabriel Murphy at Round 2, Pick 19, and the board is aghast. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Mason McCormick slipping to pick No. 113 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Somehow Dillon Johnson was still sitting there in No. 144, and they pounced on premier running back value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Kris Abrams-Draine in slot 147 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board fumbled Cole Bishop all the way to pick No. 155, and they scooped it up. A minor itch, scratched.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Kingsley Eguakun well ahead of where he belonged. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Jordan Magee at No. 222 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Austin Stogner in slot 224. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Donell Harris Jr.. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They robbed the room for Omar Brown here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Taking De'Corian Clark in the Round 7 slot is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
