The Raiders spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Jack Kiser, the No. 176 name on the board, in Round 6, Pick 39. Very little went wrong, and the A- is earned.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Hamilton pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
The Jordan Addison deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Walter Nolen and all.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th pick they get a disruptive interior force. A real need, handled.
Jalon Walker at the Round 2 slot is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
TreVeyon Henderson at pick 68 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They let Ozzy Trapilo come to them and pounced at Round 3, Pick 33. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They jumped the gun on Kyle McCord, taking him earlier than his grade liked. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Billy Bowman Jr. in the 143rd overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Nice patience on Dorian Strong, who had no business lasting to No. 180. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Taking Jason Marshall Jr. in slot 213 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Circle this one: Jack Kiser at the 215th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Ty Hamilton at Round 7, Pick 6 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
