The Raiders spent the pick that matters most on Drake Maye, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They are betting Wallace proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
The Guerendo pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 13 they get a long-term answer under center. A clean fit for the roster.
Max Melton in the Round 3 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Roger Rosengarten at the 112th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No drama and no debate, Justin Eboigbe went about where he belonged in pick 148. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Taking Isaac Guerendo in pick No. 149 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A need, and now a little less of one.
They reached into another round for Trevin Wallace, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A quiet steal in No. 223: Evan Williams for less than the market said. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
LaDarius Henderson at the 229th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
