Somebody in the Round 6 slot was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Vikings sat still while Collin Oliver, the No. 108 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. The Adam Thielen deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
Nice patience on Tre Harris, who had no business lasting to pick 54. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Walter Nolen in No. 71 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They will replay Anthony Belton at Round 4, Pick 11 for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Shemar Turner at pick No. 135 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Beaux Collins in the Round 5 slot, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Wyatt Milum at slot 152 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Steal is underselling it; Jordan Hancock at the 155th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Collin Oliver in the 168th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A running back of that caliber at Round 6, Pick 11 is the definition of value, full stop. The roster fit checks out.
Taking J.J. Weaver in the Round 7 slot is close to grand larceny; an edge rusher that good had no business lasting this long. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Bryce Foster at the 197th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They robbed the room for Zy Alexander here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Circle this one: Aubrey Burks at pick 210 is a fall that decides a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
