Start where it matters. The Vikings took Bo Nix to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B+.
However the rest shakes out, Rouse at that price is a win they earned. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 26 they get a sticky cover corner. Need was not the driver here.
No drama and no debate, Bo Nix went about where he belonged in the 27th overall pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Devontez Walker at the Round 3 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 104, where MarShawn Lloyd graded well above the range. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They robbed the room for Mekhi Wingo here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board had Brenden Rice higher than Round 4, Pick 29, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Luke McCaffrey in pick 157 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It fills a real need, too.
Circle this one: Tommy Eichenberg at slot 167 is a fall that decides a draft. A minor itch, scratched.
Sataoa Laumea in the 177th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Steal is underselling it; Walter Rouse at the Round 6 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Nothing to complain about; JD Bertrand went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
A slide stopped in pick 230, with Dillon Johnson worth more than the price. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
M.J. Devonshire in slot 232 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Fair-plus on Ethan Driskell, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
