Boards are made to be trusted, and the Raiders shredded theirs for Taulia Tagovailoa. He came off 53 spots early, and the room will hear about it.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. The Hart value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
Amarius Mims at the 22nd pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
J.J. McCarthy in Round 2, Pick 12 is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Keon Coleman slipping to slot 53 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They paid sticker price for Christian Mahogany in the Round 3 slot, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A cornerback of that caliber at pick No. 112 is the definition of value, full stop. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Justin Eboigbe at pick 147 squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They read the board right and Curtis Jacobs was the payoff at the 207th pick. A minor itch, scratched.
They reached into another round for Taulia Tagovailoa, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It fills a real need, too.
Bub Means in No. 229 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
