Philadelphia Eagles

Larceny in the 50th pick lands the Eagles a B, Nubin and all.

The Eagles did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Tyler Nubin fell into pick No. 50. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.22 · Pick 22 · Cooper DeJean · CB · rank 13
In the Round 1 slot they get a ballhawk on the outside, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.18 · Pick 50 · Tyler Nubin · S · rank 30
They barely believed it either: Tyler Nubin still on the board at the 50th overall pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R2.22 · Pick 54 · Chris Braswell · LB-EDGE · rank 56
A straight-up fair deal on Chris Braswell at pick 54, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R3.34 · Pick 97 · Tykee Smith · S · rank 97
Tykee Smith at slot 97 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R5.12 · Pick 148 · Luke McCaffrey · WR · rank 141
A clean, defensible pick in the 148th pick with a little surplus value in Luke McCaffrey. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R5.27 · Pick 163 · Ty'Ron Hopper · LB · rank 153
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Ty'Ron Hopper in pick No. 163. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R5.32 · Pick 168 · Jaylin Simpson · CB · rank 151
Jaylin Simpson is a better player than No. 168 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R5.36 · Pick 172 · Edefuan Ulofoshio · LB · rank 156
Edefuan Ulofoshio at Round 5, Pick 36 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
R6.3 · Pick 178 · Layden Robinson · OG · rank 167
They let Layden Robinson come to them and pounced at pick No. 178. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R6.11 · Pick 186 · Julian Pearl · OT-EDGE · rank 185
Julian Pearl in slot 186 is fair value, right on his grade. It does not line up with the team's obvious holes.
R6.24 · Pick 199 · Ethan Driskell · OT · rank 186
Ethan Driskell slipping to the Round 6 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The roster fit checks out.
R7.8 · Pick 228 · Jase McClellan · RB · rank 217
The board had Jase McClellan higher than the 228th pick, and the running back fell to them anyway. It fills a real need, too.
R7.23 · Pick 243 · Zakhari Franklin · WR · rank 229
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Zakhari Franklin at pick 243. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
