There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Texans started one anyway for Javon Foster, 40 picks ahead of schedule. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Beebe pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 31 they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on T'Vondre Sweat. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Cooper Beebe slid further than he should have, and pick No. 90 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Javon Foster at the Round 3 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A conviction pick on James Williams at slot 123 that the board grades a round light. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They went early on Cam Hart in the 126th pick, and the value did not follow. A minor itch, scratched.
A straight-up fair deal on Jaylen Wright at pick No. 163, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Trey Knox in pick 175 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The roster fit checks out.
Nothing to complain about; Joe Milton III went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
