The board owed the Texans one, and it paid up: Denzel Burke, the No. 61 name on the board, sitting there at the Round 3 slot like a gift left on the doorstep. Fine in stretches, shaky in others: a C+.
They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. They are betting Milton III proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
In the end, a coin-flip class: fine today, with a wide range of outcomes ahead.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 30 they get a matchup weapon at tight end. A clean fit for the roster.
Xavier Worthy at pick No. 33 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
No drama and no debate, Cooper Beebe went about where he belonged in slot 49. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing TreVeyon Henderson in the Round 3 slot. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Denzel Burke in the 93rd pick, plain and simple. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.

They paid a round early for Beaux Limmer in No. 127, more than the board wanted. The roster fit checks out.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Antwaun Powell-Ryland at slot 154 is the proof. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Value said wait; Joe Milton III in the 166th overall pick says they were not listening. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
De'Corian Clark at pick No. 234 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Robert Lewis at Round 7, Pick 18 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
