It is the swing that defines the weekend: Tyler Harrell in pick No. 231, a good 141 spots before the room expected him. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Hart value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
They took Kris Jenkins at par in the 44th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Spencer Rattler in Round 3, Pick 13 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A premium they did not need to pay, Tommy Eichenberg a notch or two before his time. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Nice patience on Cam Hart, who had no business lasting to the 147th pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A straight-up fair deal on Aki Ogunbiyi at pick 190, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A real head-scratcher, Mark Perry in the 221st overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A minor itch, scratched.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Tyler Harrell. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
