The Vikings spent the pick that matters most on Caleb Williams, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape.
The Solomon pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with quarterback the one that mattered most.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

In the 11th overall pick they get the arm they will build around at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Malik Nabers in pick No. 42 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Good price on Marshawn Kneeland in the Round 4 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Dominick Puni reach the 130th pick and blink. They did not. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Javon Solomon in slot 148 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The roster reasoning here is anyone's guess.
Circle this one: Cole Bishop at pick 160 is a fall that decides a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Taking Nehemiah Pritchett in No. 166 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Steal is underselling it; Jaylen Wright at Round 6, Pick 4 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Jordan Magee at pick No. 230 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
