Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a F.

The Sam Hartman selection is the head-turner. The Vikings reached 82 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. There is no dressing it up: a F.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. However the rest shakes out, Devonshire at that price is a win they earned.

Whatever Jayden Daniels becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.

There is no soft landing here; this class has to massively overperform just to matter.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.11 · Pick 11 · Jayden Daniels · QB · rank 7
In pick No. 11 they get their guy under center for the next decade at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R1.12 · Pick 12 · Jared Verse · DE-EDGE · rank 11
In pick 12 they get a bendy edge with upside. The biggest hole, addressed.
R1.27 · Pick 27 · JC Latham · OT · rank 16
In the 27th pick they get a cornerstone up front, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.3 · Pick 35 · Jackson Powers-Johnson · C · rank 31
Jackson Powers-Johnson in the Round 2 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R2.10 · Pick 42 · Edgerrin Cooper · LB · rank 46
No edge and no loss on Edgerrin Cooper in the 42nd overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R2.16 · Pick 48 · Braden Fiske · DL · rank 53
By-the-book stuff, Braden Fiske at Round 2, Pick 16 squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R3.5 · Pick 69 · Payton Wilson · LB · rank 52
Value with a capital V on Payton Wilson in Round 3, Pick 5, a genuine coup. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
R3.27 · Pick 90 · Jaden Hicks · S · rank 74
They read the board right and Jaden Hicks was the payoff at pick 90. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R4.8 · Pick 108 · DeWayne Carter · DT · rank 103
DeWayne Carter at slot 108 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R4.29 · Pick 129 · Theo Johnson · TE · rank 124
Fair-plus on Theo Johnson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A need, and now a little less of one.
R5.21 · Pick 157 · Luke McCaffrey · WR · rank 149
Luke McCaffrey at pick No. 157 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R5.31 · Pick 167 · Isaiah Davis · RB · rank 156
A quiet steal in the 167th overall pick: Isaiah Davis for less than the market said. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R6.2 · Pick 177 · Sam Hartman · QB · rank 259
A real head-scratcher, Sam Hartman in the 177th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R6.5 · Pick 180 · Dylan Laube · RB · rank 157
Dylan Laube at No. 180 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R6.6 · Pick 181 · Javion Cohen · OG · rank 170
Javion Cohen slipping to the Round 6 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R6.13 · Pick 188 · Grayson Murphy · DL-EDGE · rank 177
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Grayson Murphy in pick No. 188. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R6.18 · Pick 193 · Jaylin Simpson · CB · rank 136
They robbed the room for Jaylin Simpson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R6.28 · Pick 203 · Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint · WR · rank 195
Nice patience on Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, who had no business lasting to pick 203. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R7.10 · Pick 230 · Garret Greenfield · OT · rank 216
They let Garret Greenfield come to them and pounced at No. 230. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R7.33 · Pick 253 · M.J. Devonshire · CB · rank 191
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, M.J. Devonshire in Round 7, Pick 33, plain and simple. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
